On August 9, 2019, history was made when Troop 777 G was founded and chartered at the First United Methodist Church of Marysville as the first all-female Scouts BSA Troop in Marysville and Union County, serving all local girls from ages 11 to 17.
A Scout-led program, they have shown amazing character and perseverance as the COVID-19 pandemic hit, and they have rocked their Scouting journey, earning the highest level award for a Unit in 2020 for the program they created- the Journey to Excellence Gold Award.
In their first year, even with 6 months of COVID-19 shutdowns and restrictions, the Scouts of Troop 777, as a unit:
- Earned 41 Merit Badges
- Earned 20 Rank advancements
- Completed a 4-week program on drug & alcohol abuse
- Hiked 129 miles
- Camped 50 nights, during which they earned 113 “Frost Points” (a Frost Point is earned for every degree is it below freezing while on a campout) and created the troop motto, “It can always get colder!”
- Completed 57 hours of Conservation Service Projects
- Performed 240 hours of Community service in Marysville and Union County, ranging from serving at the Hope Center, to making masks for essential workers, and teaching Cub Scouts
